What does it take to cover basic needs in Michigan? The answer to this question varies widely, but one factor remains the same- the current measures in place grossly underestimate what a household needs to survive. The Self-Sufficiency Standard takes a deep dive into wages needed cover expenses by budget category, and looks at available work supports that help a household achieve self-sufficiency. The study explores over 700 household compositions, in every county in Michigan.
