The Porch Project is a community-led partnership between the Eastside Improvement Association (EIA) of Flint and University of Michigan-Flint combining porch repairs and planting flower beds to promote “neighborliness” in Flint’s eastside. The resident-led project leveraged funding resources from a partnership with a UM-Flint professor interested in an ecological research question that fit within the framework of EIA’s goals. The Project grew through neighborhood visibility and technical assistance provided by a UM-Flint staff.
